Inspired by the principles of the Bauhaus movement, we already knew that this was going to be one of our favorite projects. Our alma mater, Rhode Island School of Design, was founded the core principles of the Bauhaus. The subsequent Bauhaus movement emphasizes truth to materials or purpose, which insinuates an object should appear in its most honest form. This movement also marked the first time that fine art disciplines were being combined with trades such as architecture and design, supporting the notion that everything should be a work of art.

For this project we decided to build off of a quote from one of the Bauhaus grandaddys, Hans Wagner, stating that "“A chair is to have no back-side. It should be beautiful from all sides and angles". This is indictive of Workshop Studio's mission to it's core - creating a photo studio that emphasizes truth in materials, and is truly beautiful, however you move about the space.
